SVCC Coaching
Club chairman Dave Thomas
with a number SVCC members who are also BCU qualified coaches are
able to accommodate a large variety of skill levels from complete
beginners getting in a kayak for the first time to experienced
kayakers looking to improve their technique, or gain access to more
advanced training.
SVCC also have many members predominantly interested in open
boating.
Coaching is available both at our indoor pool sessions, at our
flat water sessions, and on our moving water trips.
SVCC run pool sessions at Stratford Park Leisure Centre suitable
for all levels of skill.
During the autumn, winter and spring these are the indoor pool
on alternate saturday evenings. During the summer these move to the
outdoor pool and are held on alternate Thursday evenings.
SVCC also deliver flat water coaching sessions for members on
the Gloucester-Sharpness Canal and the River Wye, as well as
coaching on moving water at Symonds Yat Rapids.
These will be for both open boat and kayak skills for those
aiming towards the 2* award, and for beginners/intermediates
wanting to develop their skills.
Normal meeting point for canal sessions will be either Saul
Junction car park (near the cafe), or the canal car park at
Purton.

Occasionally external service providers are used where club
coaches are not appropriately qualified. For example for delivery
of Foundation or White Water Safety and Rescue Training, or perhaps
Freestyle Training.

site.
